Airtel’s Digital TV – 6th DTH service in India
Airtel, the well known name in telecom sector, has now entered in to the DTH sector. Bharti Airtel launched its DTH service on 7th of October, with in 62 cities in India, and these will be distributed through 21,000 retail points including Airtel relationship centers.
Airtel is the 2nd to launch DTH service this year behind Reliance ADA group’s Big TV, and is 6th in the race of total DTH service providers available, till date.
Airtel will also have to face competition with other DTH service providers like Dish TV, Tata Sky, Sun Direct, DD Direct Plus and upcoming Videocon DTH.
But Airtel is all set for a tough competition. Airtel’s Digital TV has come up with a number of interesting features. Like booking cinema tickets, browsing for holiday packages, watching Onscreen Account details, tele shopping getting stock up-dates and many other facilities. Above all, it has made great effort to provide uninterrupted service during all seasons. Thus they have already solved the problem of no signal supply during bad or stormy weather. This will be an added advantage for the general public. As, the existing users of other DTH service have complained a lot about the same problem.
Airtel’s Digital TV is based on MPEG4 std. and DVB S2 technology which in short means excellent quality of channels provided by them.
For the benefit of the general public, Airtel’s digital TV is available at a very affordable price in just 2499 Rs (Northern areas) and 1499 Rs. (Southern Areas), with 6 months subscription.. It will be really worth paying 2499 Rs. for Airtel’s uninterrupted supply plus the other facilities.
My Review of Airtel DTH
Airtel DTH is vertainly has a better picture quality than many other DTH providers. Another advantage of Airtel DTH is its universal remote control which can be used simultaneously for set-top box and the TV.
But the biggest disadvantage of Airtel DTH is its customer service. From the reviews I have seen all over the internet, it is very clear that it has pathetic customer support and I am not the only one who has suffered the PAIN. Airtel DTH’s channel guide is also a total mess.
