Tata Indicom launched Photon+ wireless broadband service in Jammu few montsh back and recently in Delhi. Initially I was skeptical about subscribing to this service as I had read alot of people complaining about the indicom’s walky service. But when I finally subscribed to this service, I actually found it to be quite good. Atleast its better than BSNL dataone in quality. But in price competition, BSNL still has the edge.
Photon plus is strictly for the people who are looking for quality and not for quantity. If you are heavy user and mostly download movies and songs from torrents etc then this service is not for yopu. The unlimited home 750 plan of BSNL dataone will suit you.
Tata indicom does not have any unlimited useage plan. It only has a add-on pack that allows 10GB useage in night. Also, this can be used only for one computer. Multiple users are not supported.
If we talk of speed, on average its about 900Kbps (0.9 Mbps). Some times its rises to 2 mbps but I have never seen 3.1 Mbps speed as advertised by Indicom. but still its quite nice speed and streaming videos in youtube etc play absolutely fine. Also there are no cuts as we experience in BSNL.
Following are some screenshots of speed that I receive at Jammu.
